2016 Beck Flavors Scholarship: Kenzie McClintic

Kenzie McClinticEvery year The University of Missouri Food Science Department awards the Beck Flavors scholarship to one student. The scholarship offers financial support to a promising student who is exploring the food science industry and future career opportunities in the food science industry. This year Kenzie McClintic is the scholarship award winner. Kenzie is a Food Science Major, interested in a future career in product development, food chemistry or food science.

Dr. Ingolf Gruen, program chair of the Food Science Department at the University of Missoui, awarded Kenzie with the scholarship. Kenzie, thought her food science studies, has been working on lab researched, specifically focused on whey protein and products developed using whey protein. This research and hard work led to Kenzie being selected for a summer internship with Nestle – Gerber in Fremont Michigan. “The reason I got into Food Science, growing up I was always interested in cooking and always thought about products I wished were on the market,” explained Kenzie.

The Beck Flavors scholarship will afford Kenzie additional opportunities moving forward. ”College is a huge financial burden, any financial help goes a long way in helping me further my studies and my career,” said Ms. McClintic.

“Beck Flavors is excited for Kenzie and her bright future. We’re glad that she continues the history of bright, young food scientists being awarded this scholarship and using it to reach new heights. Congratulations Kenzie!” said Charley Beck, President and CEO of Beck Flavors.

“I always thought to myself, I could make a product like that,” an excited Kenzie shared. The Beck Flavors scholarship will help Kenzie get even closer to achieving that dream.
